PRESS RELEASE: Village of Schaumburg adopts Mvix Digital Signage Solution
after a comprehensive evaluation of over 25 different solutions

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sterling, VA. Nov 18, 2014: Village of Schaumburg, one of the largest communities in Chicago’s Northwest Suburbs, has selected Mvix digital signage systems for displaying customized information for residents and visitors across various sign locations. Spanning over a year, the initial roll-out will soon be completed subsequent to a comprehensive evaluation of over twenty-five (25) different digital signage solutions. As a part of this installation, the digital signage display screens are being configured to provide customized information to residents, visitors, and commuters based on the various sign locations. The cloud-based management software is being utilized to remotely and dynamically manage informational content on all screens throughout the day.

Village of Schaumburg, one of the largest communities in Chicago’s Northwest Suburbs, has selected Mvix digital signage systems for displaying customized information for residents and visitors across various sign locationsThis expansive digital signage roll-out is being coordinated and managed by the Village of Schaumburg. Schaumburg is a community of about 75,000 people, about 30 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. A hub of business and industry in the northwest suburbs, its daytime population swells to over 150,000 people. Managing the flow of commuters and providing relevant and timely information is an important activity of Schaumburg’s management. Leveraging its well-established video production facility that creates content for web and cable TV distribution, the village aims to equip all of its facilities, and the PEG (Public, Education & Government) television network with Mvix digital signage systems.

"Digital signage offers a unique opportunity for us to convey timely, valuable information via highly visible rich content,” commented Jack Netter, Assistant Director for Cultural Services. “Given our robust WAN and Wifi build-out and our existing content creation capabilities, the signage project fit very neatly into our current infrastructure."

Commenting on the adoption of Mvix digital signage solutions, Jack stated; “Technically, the system has been flawless. The ability to manage all displays from a central location, whether they are on our WAN or not, is fantastic. The authoring side is also very functional, making onsite schedule changes or troubleshooting very convenient. The (digital signage) players are simply bullet-proof. They just work. I’m accustomed to having some flexibility in terms of configuring hardware myself, but tech support has been so responsive, it’s been a non-issue. They're very economical. The initial investment is extremely reasonable and the TCO, given the no-fee service makes the Mvix a no-brainer.”

We are delighted to be a part of this new project at Schaumburg,” said A. Jay, Director of Business Relations at Mvix. “The Schaumburg team has done a fabulous job with this implementation. Their use of the digital signage platform is flawless. We are excited to work with such clients who are able to implement such projects comprehensively.”

I'm sure we have looked at a minimum of 25 vendors; four or five were considered seriously,” remarked Jack. “TCO was what really tipped the balance for us. Our IT guys were impressed with how easy it was to implement some home-brew HTML for custom JSON feeds. Technical support is impeccable. Not only were my support requests answered and resolved quickly, the techs were personable and made sure they understood the exact nature of my request to ensure that I was satisfied. We’d like to deploy Mvix systems everywhere we can think of and we certainly have plenty of locations available.”

The first phase of the digital signage installation is expected to last about 3 months. In addition to the normal municipal operations, the village owns and/or operates a minor league baseball stadium, commuter rail station, regional airport, performing arts center, and a convention center that includes a 500 room hotel, and 150,000 sq. feet exhibition space. Schaumburg is also home to the Woodfield Shopping Center, one of the largest indoor malls in America. Implementation of the entire network across all facilities of Schaumburg will span over a two year period.
